FUORI!, the experimental project dedicated to the adolescents of Bologna, promoted by the Municipality of Bologna, realised by Emilia Romagna Teatro ERT / Teatro Nazionale and curated by Silvia Bottiroli, ends with an international festival taking place from the 6th to the 11th of June 2023. A rich calendar of performances, collective actions, installations, projections and talks will animate various spaces in Bologna, from the centre to the suburban districts and other iconic areas.
The festival will be inaugurated with a preview – on Tuesday, 23 May, at 8.30 p.m. – with the Spanish writer and philosopher Paul B. Preciado, hosted at the Arena del Sole Theatre to present his latest book Dysphoria mundi, published in Italy by Fandango Libri. The meeting is held in the context of the Patto per la Lettura Bologna, in collaboration with String Figures-Lo Spazio Letterario and the Libreria delle donne di Bologna. The author will dialogue with activist and writer Porpora Marcasciano and scholar Elia A.G. Arfini, presented by actress Sylvia De Fanti / Bluemotion.
“We chose the festival format for its particular ability to modify – sometimes even imperceptibly – the way space and time are inhabited, constructing the dramaturgy of the programme in relation to specific public places in Bologna and the trajectories that cross them. The programme is designed for an audience of adults, who are asked to abandon their usual posture for a moment, to give in a little, to play a game whose rules they do not know, to listen.» Silvia Bottiroli
FUORI! proposes an alliance between the theatre and the city of Bologna, aiming to bring together young people and artistic creation processes in which they can play different roles, from elaborating content to commissioning artworks, reappropriating public spaces and experiencing spectatorship as an emancipatory practice.
The project was an urban social experiment, unique in Italy, which involved 28 international and local artists, more than 40 city institutions and associations active in the educational and social field, 11 schools and 16 classes and interclass groups, and more than 400 young people aged between 11 and 25.
FUORI! originated from the invitation of the Municipality of Bologna to Emilia Romagna Teatro ERT / Teatro Nazionale to be part of the broader project Il giorno di domani – azione collettiva di artisti e artiste per l’infanzia e l’adolescenza, funded by the European Union – European Social Fund within the framework of the National Operative Programme Città Metropolitane 2014-2020 and the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. FUORI! Festival is part of Bologna Estate 2023, the programme promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna – Territorio Turistico Bologna-Modena.
